The Rotaract  Club in the College consists of around hundred members. The Rotary Club of  Coimbatore  Texcity  sponsors the club.

The Club provides members an opportunity

  • To recognize, practice and promote  ethical standards  as leadership qualities  and vocational  responsibilities

The Club is awarded the “Best Rotaract Club”  award for 2004-2005.

Voices of Women

“The “Voices of Women”, a service-oriented organization based in CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science seeks to reach out to the oppressed and suppressed women in the society.

Aims and Objectives of the organization:

  • To create awareness and bring solutions to women’s problem through print media, visual media rallies and protest marches.
  • Empowering women intellectually , economically and socially.
  • To reach out to the needs of the depressed and oppressed women.
  • To provide counseling and legal help to women whenever necessary.
  • To organize forums  such as  conference and symposiums where the women  representative  can meet people who are in the decision making bodies  such as Panchayat Unions (village level), Corporation (city level), Legislative Assemblies and Parliament.
  • To integrate and network various women’s organizations engaged in development programs and issued  based activities and to offer a stronger base to voice their issues.
  • To motivate the society to respect women and treat  them with dignity which is their birthright.

Voices  of  Women, the women’s wing is organized by Mrs. Esther Rani Socrates, Lecturer, Department of Social Work. Since its inception ‘ Voices of Women ‘ is involved in various activities for the development  and empowerment of women.

For Student Community

‘ Voices of women’ organizes lot of programmes for the students, which include debates, various  competitions, seminars, symposiums, etc. to enlighten the students on different  women issues. Seminars on Women’s Bill, common  Civil Procedure Code, Basic Ethical and Moral values for girls, etc were the important ones. Voices of Women is proud to acknowledge the screening of India’s  first Women Commandos Passing out  parade which motivated the students to come up in life.

For the Women Prisoners:

Under Voices of Women reaches out for the women prisoners at Central Prison, Coimbatore by organizing various  programmes like orientation  to Self Employment Programmes, Counseling, Training, Legal aid, Medical services etc. An awareness is thereby created among the women prisoners about the opportunities, importance of women’s education empowerment and development.

For the Village and Slum Dwellers:

Voices of Women is interested in empowering village and slum dwellers. In this regard, various programmes have been arranged by this women’s  wing to give awareness on skill development. Few such programmes of this nature are Entrepreneurial Development for women in Self Help Groups, AIDS awareness programme, etc.,

Observing Important days:

Voices of Women celebrates important days like International Women’s Day, Christmas Eve, AIDS Prevention Day, etc. Eminent Personalities were invited on those occasions to deliver special address. The importance of those days  was narrated to the participants. The empowered women personalities of past and present were invited to motivate the participants to shine in their life.

Voices of women will continue its work for the upliftment and empowerment of women In the future also.
